Mandatory Landing Test

EUROLAB is the leading commercial provider of fixed-wing aircraft compulsory landing tests for airworthiness compatibility of aircraft according to FAR directives Section 25.

Mandatory Landing Test

Mandatory landing in water is used as part of the airworthiness compatibility verification process to meet national and international aviation regulatory requirements. Our testing expertise has rich experience and gives customers access to the world's leading testing procedures and information.

We have aircraft engineers who have the unique ability to provide commercial access to test the compulsory landing and buoyancy of fixed-wing aircraft with model testing.

We offer a complete range of services for mandatory landing testing, including:

  • Test planning
  • Model design and production
  • Physical tests
  • Testing in calm water and waves
  • In-test model adaptation for failure simulation
  • Assist fixed wing certification for above-ground flight
  • Preparation of final test reports

EUROLAB tests using scale models (normally in the range of 1: 8 to 1:15) equipped with appropriate instruments to measure the behavior of the model. In combinations up to 30 channels, we use a state-of-the-art data collection system that records acceleration, angular rotation (pitch roll and yaw) and pressure. The number of measured channels and data can be configured to suit customer requirements.

During a collision, the passenger experiences the following final inertial forces, which act individually according to the surrounding structure:

  • Up, 3.0g
  • Forward, 9,0g
  • 3.0g sideways in the fuselage
  • Downward, 6.0g
  • Rear, 1,5 g

Mandatory landing testShould be made as part of the airworthiness compatibility verification program to demonstrate compliance with the relevant regulations in FAR25.

FAA test criteria

The purpose of the scale model test for forced landing was typically carried out as evidence to satisfy the Federal Aviation Authorities. We test the following sections of the FAR Chapter 25 Airworthiness Standards:

  • 25.801 (Forced Landing)
  • 25.807 (e) (Emergency Exits)
  • 25.1411 (Security Hardware)
  • 25.1415 (Trench Equipment)

Additional data can be obtained to help ensure the following FAA Federal Regulatory Law:

FAR Chapter 25 Subpart C, Chapter 25.561, paragraph (b) (3)

Additional Space and Defense Products Testing Services

In addition to the aircraft forced landing test, EUROLAB also offers environmental simulation, mechanical tests, safety, structural, operational, functional and performance tests, as well as a comprehensive product qualification test and special tests for RTCA DO-160 qualification. These include hail and bird strike, sand / dust, fuel icing, combined environmental and operational reliability testing.
