EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of UL 2849 standard. This Standard covers the lithium-based, rechargeable battery-powered electrical system of eBikes. eBikes include both Electrically powered assisted cycling (EPAC - pedal assist) and pedalless assisted eBikes.
Electrical systems can include onboard components and onboard components of eBikes. As a minimum, the electrical system consists of the drive unit, battery, battery management system (BMS), interconnecting cables, and power input.
Any additional components or systems required to demonstrate compliance are included based on overall system implementation and risk.
Onboard components include special chargers to charge batteries that are removed from the eBike during charging, or special chargers to charge batteries that are in place in the eBike during charging. This Standard does not cover the mechanical construction of the eBike unless otherwise stated.
