The VDI 6022 test standard addresses hygiene in air conditioning systems and equipment to regulate the air without any adverse effects. The standard describes the requirements for the design, construction and operation of air handling systems and air handling equipment and their components.
This standard specifies hygiene requirements from an interdisciplinary perspective, taking into account structural, technical and organizational factors in the planning, manufacture, operation, operation and maintenance of ventilation and air conditioning systems and units. These requirements primarily serve to protect human health.
Existing regulations, VDI Standards and other standards regarding the planning, execution, operation and maintenance of ventilation and air conditioning systems are complemented by this standard in terms of hygiene.
The Standard specifically addresses building owners, architects, planners, system builders, unit manufacturers, approval authorities, experts, operators, building managers, maintenance personnel, occupants and those who represent their interests, e.g. staff or workers' councils, employers' liability insurance associations, as well as company doctors and public health officials.
The target also applies to process air systems (systems used as a precautionary measure to comply with the German Hazardous Substances Regulation (GefStoffV) or the German Biological Agents Regulation (BioStoffV) for the purposes of this standard). However, in the context of legal rules and regulations, details regarding design, control of hygienic condition and characteristics of reference air as well as process-specific emissions must be observed.
In terms of hygiene requirements, the standard provides guidance on planning, installation, maintenance and operation and explains test procedures and test criteria for ventilation and air conditioning systems and units.
