IEC 62561-2 Lightning Protection System Components (LPSC) - Part 2: Requirements for Conductors and Earth Electrodes

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of IEC 62561-2 standard. This part of the IEC 62561 standard specifies requirements and tests for metallic conductors (other than natural conductors) forming part of air-termination and down-conductor systems, metallic earth electrodes forming part of an earth-termination system.

IEC 62561-2 Lightning Protection System Components (LPSC) - Part 2: Requirements for Conductors and Earth Electrodes

This part of IEC 62561 deals with requirements and tests for lightning protection system components (LPSC), in particular conductors and earth electrodes, used for the installation of a lightning protection system (LPS) designed and implemented in accordance with IEC 62305 (all parts) .

Conductors and earth electrodes shall be designed so that their performance is reliable, stable and safe for persons and surrounding equipment when installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

The choice of a material depends on the material's ability to comply with specific application requirements, such as the life cycle, the effects of galvanic corrosion, and compatibility with other interconnected materials or services.

The manufacturer or supplier of conductors and earth electrodes should provide sufficient information in their literature to enable the installer of the conductors and earth electrodes to select and install materials appropriately and safely in accordance with IEC 62305-3 and IEC 62305-4. Compliance is checked by inspection.

All products conforming to this document must be marked with at least the name or trademark or identifying symbol of the manufacturers or responsible dealers.

The ground electrode conductors and ground plates will be corrosion resistant and any coating will adhere well to the base material.

Where this is impractical, marking in accordance with the identifying symbol may be given on the smallest packaging unit. Marking can be applied, for example, by moulding, pressing, engraving, printing adhesive labels or waterslide transfers.
